"411 Music talks to bassist Chris Catero from hard rock up-and-comers Razer about the re-release of Dark Devotion, using XM radio to get publicity, and how the current state of the music industry has affected the band.
Modern rock mixed with an ‘80s flair is the concoction that Razer stirs up. They started getting noticed with serious airplay on Sirius XM Octane. Their recent single, "Do You Want It," which features a guest spot from former Megadeth guitarist Marty Friedman, has gotten attention on satellite radio. While the band released their latest album, Dark Devotion, in early 2010, the lack of major distribution prompted the idea of a re-release. In addition to the 12 tracks on the original pressing, there are four bonus tracks, including "Do You Want It" and their rendition of Led Zeppelin?'s "When The Levee Breaks." I spoke to bassist Chris Catero in early July about the new tracks, why the band decided to put Dark Devotion out for a second time, and the appeal of satellite radio over AM/FM stations."
